Our Story

Our story opens several years ago, when our founder was learning to talk. “Angelique” is a bit of a mouthful for a toddler, so she came up with “Neek”. She didn’t know it at the time, but Neek wasn’t just coining her nickname – she was also creating the name of an Australian natural skincare company.

At NEEK Skin Organics, ethics, and an awareness of our responsibility to our animal friends and to the planet, play a central role in all our business decisions. In many ways, they’re our raison d'etre (a fancy-pants way of saying they’re the most important reason for our existence) 

That’s why NEEK is proudly all-vegan, all-natural, and cruelty-free. We want to empower you to make ethical choices around purchasing and consuming, so you can do your part to look after the planet and our furred and feathered co-habitants. As an added bonus, you’ll also enjoy products that are great for your skin – and that actually work!

NEEK is tested on sisters not animals

Like you, at NEEK we’re against animal testing. So growing up, our founder Angelique smothered her two sisters (never her brother ?) in natural oils and foodstuffs as she experimented with different combinations.

Nowadays, we take a rather more scientific approach to testing. But we still test our natural makeup and skincare range on people’s sisters, and not on our animal friends.

You’ll be pleased to learn that our preference for natural and vegan products means that a nature-friendly approach comes naturally to NEEK. Not only do we avoid nasty, synthetic chemicals – we also use sustainable, recycled and recyclable packaging, and keep outer packaging to a minimum to reduce waste. We also send our orders out in plastic-free compostable satchels - so you can enjoy guilt-free beauty products that work.

NEEK founder Angelique only had to think about parabens for her face to blow up, so she quickly learned which ingredients to avoid, and experimented with creating her own cleansers, moisturisers, and more.

It soon became apparent that what your skin needs is simple, so simple, it can be found in nature without harming bees, sheep or bunnies?  While the folk in white lab coats still play an essential role at NEEK, they’re not busy inventing more things for you to be allergic to. Instead, we create makeup and skincare products from natural, active ingredients. These scientifically-proven ingredients are so natural, you could spread them on your toast in the morning (though we don’t claim they’d be delicious). But even better, the ingredients we use are essential for skin health, and help slow your skin’s aging process.

Natural Products That Don’t Smell Like Porridge

NEEK’s product range is made from truly natural, vegan ingredients. And while they may be natural, NEEK products aren’t brown, and they don’t smell like porridge. Instead, our range is full of beautiful shades and scents, presented in pretty eco packaging that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.

We currently have a range of natural vegan lipsticks and the first products of our skincare range.  Stay tuned though as we have loads in the pipeline.

We've Got Credentials!

NEEK are very focused on making products that are not only kind to us, but to animals and the environment. Our products are formulated with organic chemists and made to Eco-cert standards and are accredited as VEGAN and CRUELTY-FREE BY CCF.   We are conscious of choosing recyclable and sustainable options in everything that we do. We limit the use of plastic and over packaging and waste, as much as possible, within the standard retail regulations.  We use compostable courier satchels for sending orders and operate as a paper-free organisation.

NEEK’s goal is to inspire and show people how simple and fulfilling it is to look after your skin and wellbeing with products that are kind to you, our animals, and the planet.

We also want to educate people about clean beauty and how it can be just as sexy and effective (often better) than some of the most notable luxury cosmetic brands we covet.

At NEEK, we prioritise the use of eco-friendly materials and sustainable packaging options. Our bamboo packaging, which is highly renewable, reflects our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. Not only is bamboo refillable, but it also offers a sleek and luxurious aesthetic that aligns with our brand ethos.

Innovative Packaging Solutions

In our pursuit of sustainability, we continually explore innovative packaging solutions. We started with recycled paper tubes evolving to refillable bamboo packaging for our makeup products.   Originally housed in glass packaging, based on consumer safety concerns along with international wholesalers freight cost feedback, we are trialling our skincare range in bio-plastic tubes, supported by recycling initiatives to ensure proper disposal and recycling.

We are dedicated to finding options that minimise waste and maximise recyclability, however we recognise the challenges of keeping organic and natural cosmetics stable in conventional packaging as well as practical and pleasing options for our customers.

As a paper-free organization, we use reusable herb bags and cotton face washes to pack and protect shipped orders and utilise cardboard eco boxes and  compostable courier satchels, further reducing our impact on the environment. 

Supporting Local Suppliers and Manufacturing

In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we make every effort to work with local suppliers right here in Australia. All of our products are manufactured here in Australia and ingredients are sourced locally.
