Renewable Resources: We use bamboo as our main packaging material because it is durable and can be used over and over, it is also biodegradable and has a rapid growth rate making it highly renewable. Where we are unable to use bamboo, we use a bioplastic made using fermentable sugars from edible polysaccharide derived from sugarcane (also a renewable raw material and durable for reuse). Produced using carbon neutral energy, compatible with existing recycling stream and biodegradable making them more sustainable choices compared to conventional plastics made from fossil fuels.
Biodegradability: Bamboo is biodegradable and can decompose, further minimising its ecological footprint. Our inner tubes are also biodegradable, which means it can break down naturally into harmless components, reducing its environmental impact.
Lower Carbon Footprint: The production of our packaging has a lower carbon footprint compared to traditional plastic packaging. Bamboo is carbon-neutral or even carbon-negative, absorbing more carbon dioxide during growth than is emitted during processing. Bioplastic production emits fewer greenhouse gases than the production of petroleum-based plastics.
Refillable and Reusable: NEEK lipstick tubes are designed to be refilled, reducing the need for new packaging with each purchase. This promotes the reuse of packaging and minimizes waste.
Circular Economy: Our packaging aligns with the principles of a circular economy by promoting recycling, repurposing, and minimising waste in the product lifecycle.
