Easy Tips To Keep Your Lips Healthy & Fresh

Easy Tips To Keep Your Lips Healthy & Fresh

No matter what shape or size your lips may be, the most luscious looking ones are those that are well hydrated and smooth, with a pinkish healthy look. Here are our four super duper easy tips for keeping your ‘front of house’ looking healthy and fresh.

Moisturise

The natural environment and things in our built environment like heaters and air-con dry out your skin, including your lips. Many lipsticks and lipbalms, which contain mineral oils and other harsh ingredients, will also do the same.

Like skin, your lips should be kept well moisturised to keep them supple and smooth-looking. By regularly applying lipbalm or lipstick containing natural hydrating ingredients, you will help attract water and retain moisture in your lips. They actually love it when you rub in a little pure coconut oil at night after cleaning your teeth – honest. Ask them?

As an added bonus, if your lips are well moisturised, you’ll notice that your lipstick will sit better on your lips.

Protection

Did you know that your lips need sun protection?

If you’re applying sun cream to your face, make sure you pop some on your lips too. Lips protrude like our noses, so they’re a target for the sun. Pop on a hat when in the sun and make sure you protect yours!

Exfoliate

Some people may suggest scrubbing your lips with a toothbrush. Don’t you dare! Your lips are delicate things – even many exfoliating face scrubs are too rough for them. We suggest using a face washer/cloth/flannel/thingimijij to exfoliate your lips by gently massaging in a circular motion. This is much gentler, and won’t damage your lips.

Licking

Licking your lips dries them out, so avoid tasty lip balms that makes your tongue lose control. In fact, a lot of the time, the tastier the lipbalm, the more damaging the ingredients. Check the ingredients in your lip products and try and opt for those that have gorgeous, natural ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter, coconut oil, vitamin E and manuka honey (known for it’s healing properties).
