Next time you’re at your local supermarket – keep your eye out for some coconut oil to pop into your trolley. You won’t regret it!
Coconut oil has a range of uses, from skin and hair hydration, to cooking, and everything in between. Best of all, it’s chemical free, natural, effective, and cheap as chippies. So here are 5 uses for coconut oil that you’ll just love!
1 – It’s A Great Natural Makeup Remover
While we all love to use natural products on our skin whenever possible, the sad truth is that some natural cleansers just don’t have enough kick to get your eye makeup off.
But have no fear – coconut oil is here! Coconut oil is a brilliant natural makeup remover. Before you wash your face with your cleanser, gently rub a little coconut oil on your lids and lashes. Next, use a cotton square to wipe off the oil and makeup. And tada – makeup be gone!
2 – It’s Nature’s Face & Body Moisturiser
Another reason you’ll adore coconut oil is that it’s incredibly nourishing. Because it’s a concentrate oil, it penetrates your skin to deliver awesome moisturising benefits. You can rub the oil directly on to your face or body, or add some to your existing moisturiser for a little boost. Either way, it’ll give your skin a little extra nourishment.
3 – Your Hair Will Love It
Coconut oil isn’t just great for your skin – it’s also great for dry hair.
If you live in a colder climate and your coconut oil is solid, then before you can enjoy the hairy benefits of coconut oil, you’ll need to melt it on the stove or in the microwave (Be sure to let it cool!). Next, rub your coconut oil into the ends of your hair or where the hair needs some nourishment.
For best results, leave the coconut oil in your hair overnight. If you don’t want to get any on your pillowcase, simply pop your hair in a bun or wrap a handtowel around it. Wash your hair the next day to get rid of any excess oil, and we guarantee a good hair day will be had!
4 – It’s The Secret To Non-Dairy Coffee Drinking
OMG! We just love this reason for popping coconut oil in your trolley.
If you’re a coffee drinker, you need to try this. Add a teaspoon or two of coconut oil to your next coffee. It’s a great alternative if you avoid dairy or don’t want to add sugar, but still feel that your coffee needs that little something extra.
Some people say that cococoffee not only gets your heart started in the morning, but that thanks to the medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs), it gets your metabolism going too. Win-win, we say!
5 – It’s Nature’s Favourite Cooking Oil
Back on to MCFAs… unlike animal fats that are made up of Long Chain Fatty Acids (LCFAs), MCFAs are said to metabolise more rapidly in your body, and therefore have increased fat burning potential. You can’t say no to that, right? (You can read more about MCFAs and LCFAs here.)
Coconut oil also remains stable at high temperatures, so it’s the perfect oil for stir frying. Plus it’s yum!
